Hello! My name is Chris Savage and this is my personal blog. This used to be hosted on my main website, Savage///Circuits, however I have decided to move it to its own domain as my personal thoughts aren’t always in line with the projects, reviews and videos on Savage///Circuits. I did not migrate all my blog entries, only those I thought were important. So in a way I am starting over.
The description of this blog describes it as, “The often unintelligible and chaotic ponderings of a wandering mind.” However if you prefer you can read that as, “The obscure rants of a cynical old fart.” Just bear in mind that while I may often times seem cynical and pessimistic, I prefer to think of myself as a realist and that can often come off as sounding like a pessimist, but I also think that perspective lies in the person reading these blog entries. You see what you expect to see, I guess.
My career is in electronics engineering and technical support. I am an Engineering Tech. I design products, design test procedures, write documentation, example code and support these products. Prior to working at Parallax I ran a computer repair business called Knight Designs Computers, a DJ business called Savage Music Service and was a customer of Parallax using their products for custom design work as Knight Designs.
Once I started working at Parallax I moved my personal projects to my website, Savage///Circuits, which also includes tutorials, reviews and videos. I won’t be discussing much of anything about my website here. This is more of a personal outlet for me and I may post some other information as things progress.
In July of 2015 my wife Wendy passed away of breast cancer. For those who knew her you can find her blog by clicking on her name (which is a link to her blog). It is still updated and maintained as a memorial for her.
I am also a musician who plays drums, keyboards and does some minimal singing. I ruined my voice years ago singing (trying) outside my range and without ever warming up or taking care of my voice. This resulted in some damage that has severely limited my vocal range. I do have some of the music I have worked on posted at SoundCloud, if you’re interested. I sold my MIDI controller, but eventually bought a new keyboard and drum set. And while I didn’t like electronic drum sets back in the day, I really didn’t have a choice but get one since I didn’t want to give my neighbors a reason to hate me.
And that’s pretty much me. Comment if you like. Ask questions, check out my main website, etc.
